Commonwealth Home Support Programme

If you need a little help at home - like vacuuming or washing your bed linen - or if you’d enjoy joining a social group, the Commonwealth Home Support Programme might be right for you.

Accent Home Care is an approved Commonwealth Home Support Programme provider.

It can be confusing to understand the difference between a Home Care Package and the Commonwealth Home Support Programme. Both are government programs that offer funding for care at home, but they support different levels of need.

Domestic Assistance
Help with vacuuming and mopping floors, washing dishes, making the bed, & cleaning the shower, basin, sink and toilet.

Personal Care
Assistance with showering and bathing, dressing and undressing, toileting, shaving, brushing teeth, and combing hair.

Social Support Group
Join a community bus to lunch, gardens, shows, public exhibitions and entertainment venues.

Nursing & Clinical Care
Assistance with medications, wounds, continence management, stoma care, diabetes support and help after a hospital stay.

The Commonwealth Home Support Programme is great if you only need a small amount of support - just need one or two services to keep enjoying life.

The program is designed to give you just enough support to stay safe, independent, and comfortable in your own home, while still doing as much for yourself as you can. It can also help prevent the need for a hospital stay or move to a nursing home.

Although the cost is mostly covered by the Australian Government, you’ll still need to pay a small fee for each service you receive. Find out how much you need to pay by clicking the button below.

The Commonwealth Home Support Programme is available across Australia and helps fund approved local organisations - such as Accent Home Care - to give you the care and support you need at home.

To access the funding, a trained assessor from the Australian Government will visit you at home to talk through what support would help you most.

You then ask to be referred to Accent Home Care.

We will then

Work with you to create a care plan that fits your needs and goals
Support you to keep doing things for yourself, wherever possible
Check in each year to make sure your services are still right for you
Always follow the Aged Care Quality Standards to keep you safe and well cared for

Assistance to shower and attend to personal hygiene
Grooming including shaving, combing hair
Getting dressed
Support with everyday personal tasks to help you feel fresh, confident, and comfortable.
