Government-funded home help
If you’re eligible, the Australian Government can help pay for your home support - whether you need just a little help or more ongoing care.

Privately funded home help
If you need help at home right away and don’t want to wait for an assessment, private home care is a flexible choice.

Home Care Packages
If you need regular support, a Home Care Package can provide flexible, personalised care. With more funding available, you’ll receive a care plan tailored to your needs - from help with daily tasks to health and wellbeing support, and even home modifications. It’s care, your way.

Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)
If you only need a little help now and then, Commonwealth Home Support Programme is a good place to start. Offering lower funding and restricted services, it is for older people who need occasional or short term help to stay independent at home such as cleaning, personal care, social outings, and some nursing needs.
Am I eligible for funded support at home
To receive government funding for care at home, you’ll need an assessment through My Aged Care, which is part of the Australian Government’s aged care services. A trained assessor will talk with you - either in your home, online, or over the phone - to understand what help you need and decide what level of support is right for you.
You can apply if you are:
-
Aged 65 or over
-
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and aged 50 or over
-
Over 50 and at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness

Want to pay privately for your home care?
Paying privately for home care gives you more choice, flexibility, and control. You won’t need to wait for government assessments or approval, so services can start straight away. You can choose the type of care you want, when you want it, and how often. This can be a great option if you need short-term support, are waiting for government funding to come through, or simply prefer to manage things yourself.
