News & Events

With spring almost over for another year, it’s time to start thinking about summer and what things you can plan to do to make the most of it.

We thought we’d write up an article on four activities you and your friends can do this summer.

Drawing & Painting

A relaxing & creative activity, drawing, and painting can be a great activity for the elderly either by themselves or in a group.

Even if you’ve never participated in this activity before, drawing and painting is a great way to learn a new skill and have fun with it all at the same time.

Gardening

The perfect outdoor activity in summer, spending time outside tending to your garden is a wonderful activity.

We think that gardening is one of those activities that allow you to do as little or as much as you want depending on your current health.

Best of all, the level of satisfaction you’ll get from all that hard work is ever so pleasing. It’s also a great way to stay active.

Crafts

Somewhat similar to drawing and painting, getting into craft making is a lot of fun.

Whether it be activities such as knitting, macrame, beading, scrapbooking, or jewellery making, they’re all relaxing activities that you can do yourself or with a group of your friends.

The great thing is that they can be done in the comfort of your own home or through one of our social support group activities.

A Family or Friend Picnic

If there’s a better reason to get outside during summer than gardening, then it would have to be for a picnic.

Whether it be with your family or friends, a picnic is a great social activity where you can catch up with the ones who mean the most to you.

A nearby park is obviously the best location, but if there isn’t one then a backyard would be more than suitable.

The whole point is to get out into the fresh air and enjoy yourself with family or friends.

These are just some of the social activities that we would recommend for you to do this coming summer. But perhaps there are some that you’ve already got planned? If so, be sure to let us know!
