Unfortunately this year, the Tabulam and Templer Homes for the Aged (TTHA) Christmas ‘Weihnachtsmarkt’ Market had to be cancelled due to COVID19. Annually the Christmas market is a wondrous multicultural celebration of Christmas and community. The TTHA Christmas ‘Weihnachtsmarkt’ Market brings together community, social and school groups as well as many local businesses, in a delightful community Christmas fair. Every year there are enchanting performances from the local primary school, children’s acts, local entertainers, face painting, delicious food stalls and much more. There are over 60 stall holders showcasing a beautiful array of craft, candles, jewellery, chocolates, raffles and apparel. Our attendees delight in the coffee vans, the German beer tent, bratwurst, pretzels, a BBQ and wine as well as many other food and sweets stalls. Our children’s tent attracts our little market goers with face painting, colouring and balloon animal while their parents sample the wares and browse for bargains. A strong focus of our market is inclusion, community togetherness and the celebration of Christmas in a multicultural environment. Our residents enjoy selling plants and crafts which raises great funds for our amazing lifestyle program benefiting our residents.
The Christmas ‘Weihnachtsmarkt’ Market creates connections from our residents to the broader community and builds much needed relationship for those living here at TTHA. The annual market encourages participation from our whole local community showcasing the individualism and culture of those people living in it. The participation of the whole community encourages cross-cultural awareness, understanding, respect, community unity and intercultural relationships. The market ensures our residents can celebrate, preserve and share their cultural traditions in meaningful ways with our wider community. The market delivers genuine partnerships between the community, our residents and all of the organisations involved with TTHA. We look forward to seeing you at this year’s market in November.
